The Nintendo Gamecube was my first ever game console and the one that I remember having the most fun on. This small, cube shaped game console was a part of many of my core childhood memories. I remember getting it at a GameStop inside a local mall along with a copy of Sonic Mega Collection.
The main reason for getting the Gamecube over the PS2 or Xbox was thanks to a GameStop employee recommending it to my Mom, mainly because the PS2 and Xbox "didn't have many Rated E games on them". For context, I was about 4 or 5 years old at the time, so having a console with little to no E rated games along with surplus of either T or M rated games was a definite no-go.
Most of the games I ended up playing on it were third-party games. I never really got into playing most of Nintendo's first-party games (like Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Mario Sunshine) until later on when they could be found for much cheaper either used or on clearance. Now it's hard to find a good deal on any Gamecube games, because of how rare they are and how greedy the collector's market has become.
Regardless of that, the Nintendo Gamecube holds a special place in my heart as the first console I've ever owned and one of my personal favorites to play on.
