Original Airdate: December 1 2018

Episode Description:

When Bryan sees his daughter Alice practicing Japanese calligraphy with a brush and ink, he is struck by how outdated it all seems... When do you need to use a pen nowadays, let alone a brush?! Whilst claiming computers to be more convenient, he is encouraged by Itsuki to try a calligraphy class held by a well-known, yet eccentric, teacher.

Webmaster's Remarks:

I've never been that much into Calligraphy, but watching this episode was an interesting look into the topic.

In the episode, Bryan is reluctant to learn about Calligraphy on the basis that a PC and printer can do the job much better. As the episode goes on however, Bryan learns that Calligraphy has a human element to it that a simple InkJet printer can't replicate.

This episode also marks the debut of Vijay, an Indian expat that Bryan meets at Calligraphy class. Adding a new supporting character can be a risky decision, but I feel that the addition of Vijay was done well. I have no complaints about him, and I enjoy his appearances in other episodes.
